In 2013, at the age of nineteen, Dennis entered the highly competitive NBA Draft. His family, coach, and team stood behind him as he risked everything for this one chance. With the promise to his father in mind, as well as his commitment to keep it, his dream finally came true: The Atlanta Hawks drafted Dennis with the seventeenth pick.

THE NUMBERS BEHIND THE GAME
With 17.9 points, 6.3 assists, and 3.1 rebounds per game in the 2016/17 season Dennis’ training paid off. That year, he also reached the playoffs with the Hawks, where he was able to increase his average scores to 24.7 points and 7.7 assists in six, first-round matches. In the regular season of 2017/18 he again pushed his average score to 19.4 points.

FROM BEEING THE ROOKIE TO THE STARTING FIVE
Motivated by his success, Dennis set his sights even higher. His continuous improvement eventually allowed him to compete for a spot on the Starting Five for the Atlanta Hawks in 2016. Since then, he has contributed various personal records and Career-Highs to the team’s advancement, which proved him just recently (season 2017/18) to be one of the top performer for the Hawks.

Various changes within and around the team of the Atlanta Hawks had a strong impact on the success and the possibilities for the current and especially the next season. Therefore Dennis’ transfer to Oklahoma City Thunder in July 2018 is not just the start of a new chapter for the point guard as it also enables him to take the next step in his career. Playing alongside Russel Westbrook and Paul George, Dennis has now the chance to play the NBA finals and possibly win the title.
